Flytipping and litter has become increasingly problematic, costing the council time and money to clear it, and street cleaning time that could be spent on maintaining pathways and alleys is spent on removing these items.
Increased enforcement would save on clearing costs, freeing up capacity to complete other important street cleaning work. Were it not for the community litter picking groups, this issue would be far worse, however, even with their support this problem has long been at an unmanageable level. Something has to change and we implore the council look at improving and increasing the enforcement of flytipping and litter urgently, and redirect or recruit resource to tackle this issue.
