Forward Plan for the Executive Advisory Panel

Minutes:

RESOLVED that:-

 

The following be added to the forward list of items for presentation at future meetings by officers:

 

a.    More statistics on how many SEN children the Council looked after placed both inside and outside of the county.  How many of these children were not in school and if so how would education be provided?  How many speech therapists were going into schools and how many children were being seen by them?

 

b.    The next time the youth justice plan was brought for consideration, that this also include more statistics surrounding children who were involved with the police.

 

c.    A narrative on home schooled children, numbers and provision particularly how this may have increased resulting from Covid and how many children had returned to school thereafter. 

 

d.    That a presentation be provided by PROSPECT detailing the work being undertaken by, and in conjunction with, the Council to support young adults not in education, employment or training.

Minutes:

The Democratic and Electoral Services Manager provided an update on the forward list of items for the Panel.

 

In addition to those items already noted, the following additional items were requested for consideration at future meetings:-

 

      i.        That the SEND Briefing due for consideration at the next meeting in December include details on:-

·         How the needs of new school entrants were identified;

·         Process involved and the time required to identify and provide support to school children;

·         Number of children awaiting Education and Health Care Plans.

 

     ii.        An update on school effectiveness, during February/March 2021.

 

RESOLVED:-

 

That the forward list of items be updated accordingly.

Minutes:

In considering the forward list of items for the Panel, it was noted that the amalgamation of Tennyson Road Infant and Alfred Road Street Junior Schools would be discussed at the next meeting to be held in November.

 

It was also suggested that an update on ‘requires improvement’ schools be brought to the Panel at the beginning of Spring Term, 2022.

The forward list of Items for the Panel be noted, subject to the comments now made.

Minutes:

The Democratic and Electoral Services Manager introduced this item which provided details of agenda items due to be considered by the Board over the period September – December 2021.

 

The Executive Director of Children’s Services confirmed that a report on high needs funding report would be brought to the Panel in late October 2021.

Minutes:

Members considered the latest forward list of items for the Panel.

 

The Chair informed Cllr Maxwell that he would respond to a question she had raised on how many children were home tutored outside of the meeting.

 

In response to a further question on how many schools were in special measures, the Executive Director informed Cllr Maxwell that a report on school effectiveness would be brought to the Panel in September 2021, which would cover that subject area.
