No Declarations of Interest were made.

The Chair informed Full Council that he would not be enforcing a time limit on councillor’s contributions and would allow more than one intervention if appropriate.

The Chair introduced a representative of the Council’s external legal team  who had provided advice and representation on behalf of the Council.

The Director of Legal Democratic Services, the Executive Director of Finance and the representative of the Council’s external legal team outlined the key points contained within the report before councillors.

The report before Full Council contained information in relation to a litigious matter brought against a former sovereign Council in relation to a prosecution the former sovereign council undertook prior to transition. In accordance with the Transitional Regulations, North Northamptonshire Council was now the Defendant to the claim. Full Council had initially considered this matter at an extraordinary meeting of Full Council held on 29^th June 2021.

The report circulated to Full Council provided an update on the progress made to date on defending the claim, and the options for how the Council may wish to progress this matter going forward.

Councillor J Smithers MOVED and Councillor L Bunday SECONDED the recommendations contained in the report.
